Days & Times “G” Plates

DAYS & TIMES

These plates use the more unusual version of the wording, as they have a dash rather than the word “TO” separating the days.

This is quite a rare plate as there were relatively few sections of road where buses only ran along it on Sundays only. Many of them would have been long-standing, such as for route 53 between Plumstead Common and the old Plumstead Garage in Wickham Lane, and the plates tended to be rather old and weathered. This plate, however, has superb colour and shine, and was probably from a more recently-introduced (late ’70s) section of Sunday-only road.

23·00-07·00 ONLY

The very unusual plate above came from the bus stop on the north side of Trafalgar Square, outside the National Gallery, which was only available for use by night buses between those times. Interestingly, there is a raised dot between the hours and minutes, rather than the more common full-stop. This plate lasted until the more informative G9 plate below was put up at that stop. This stop was once the focus of most night buses.

NIGHT BUS SERVICES TERMINATING HERE 2300-0700 ONLY
